There are numerous reasons why sleep is important. It can affect our mental health, mood, and efficacy. Having a good night's rest can be hard to obtain, but there are different ways to achieve it. The amount of sleep needed varies from person to person. This could be due to age, genetics, or even what stressors you have in your life.

Falling asleep may be hard. There are a lot of reasons why you could be struggling, but there are even more resources to help you fall asleep. Creating an acceptable night routine is one way to keep a healthy sleep schedule. Controlling your diet, exercising daily, and going to bed/waking up at the same time each day will help you sleep better.

  • You can create a better sleep environment by making sure your room is slightly cold and completely dark. This can help you fall asleep and stay asleep.
  • Avoid eating or drinking, alcohol, hot showers, or exercising two hours prior to your bedtime as well. These outside factors affect how quickly you fall asleep.

There are five different stages of sleep, each one needing 90-120 minutes of progress. Did you know that your brain actually shrinks while it's in deep sleep? Nearly 20%! This is necessary for your brain to get ready for a new day, prepare to learn new things, and grow! Sleep is a vital part of your health. We still do not fully understand why we sleep, but we know that we have to in order to allow our bodies time to repair and reset.
